About my photography ++++ Almost always, out in the world, the image I take home inevitably arrives there stripped of its original energy. The content flattened, the mystery strangely drained. ++++ It seems to me, that I always have to murder the image first, so that it can reincarnate to become it's real self. ++++ In this process I am letting the image simply occur. It creates itself. I am but a device providing the ingredients. I'm the mechanical hand, facilitating light and form. ++++ Eventually, they choose each other. ++++ In the end, the way I understand my images, they seem to open up in all directions of time and space, but at the same time, strangely, close all options. ++++ And in this way, I think, these images become the uncertainties of all being.
++++ All Images and series contained in Super Realities are constructed in the dark of my studio in an analog manner which resembles painting. Instead of pigments, the stuff I paint with is light, and forms and images are derived from my own photography. The process is not unlike traditional painting, the difference is the challenge, to catch the light again on film, on paper or now on a chip, once the image is complete. ++++ Most images are presented as large scale objects, mounted on stable backing, some are fused between Plexiglas and aluminum and float freely on the wall, others are mounted and inset into a black frame. ++++
